Nikon Canada today announced the Nikon COOLPIX S810C camera, billed as a “Next-generation full-featured social camera.” It promises to extend the camera’s capabilities with features offered by Google Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and Wi-Fi connectivity.
“The COOLPIX S810C combines the best parts of a Nikon camera and the limitless possibilities of the Android operating system so users can seamlessly integrate their digital lives with their creative passions,” said Gregory Flasch, National Advertising and Communications Manager at Nikon Canada. “S810C users will be able to stay connected and share everyday moments with ease through Full HD video and amazing stills.”
The Nikon COOLPIX S810C comes with a 16.0MP camera with a 12x optical Zoom-NIKKOR ED glass lens. It also features a backside illuminated (BSI) CMOS sensor and an ISO range up to 3200, Lens-Shift Vibration Reduction (VR) optical stabilization, a continuous shooting mode and the ability to shoot Full HD videos at 30fps.
With Android 4.2.2 and Wi-Fi, users have access to the Google Play store for a range of apps as well as easily share pictures over social media. The “Connect to S810C” app also makes it easy to connect to another device such as a smartphone or tablet when there is no Wi-Fi to transfer, share and view their images on that device. Finally, it also comes with a 3.7-inch display and GPS.
The Nikon COOLPIX S810C will launch in late April and sell for CA$369.95. Nikon expects it to be at Authorized Nikon Canada Dealers on or about April 24, 2014.
