Google unveiled the next major version of Android at Google I/O 2014 as Android L. Speculation has since run wild as to what its official name would be. Lemon Meringue Pie, Lion (after the Nestle chocolate bar) and Lollipop have all been identified as possibilities. A new one emerged this week courtesy of sculpting firm Themendous’s Giovanni Calabrese. What do you think of Android Licorice?
In case you’re wondering that Themendous is, it’s only the company behind the Android sculptures found at Google’s Mountain View offices. Calabrese only happens to be its owner and one of the designers of the aforementioned sculptures. He has been dropping hints on Google+ in recent days about licorice, prompting speculation that this could be Android L’s official name.
Here’s one:
I never had a great liking for Licorice, but damn! there are some great flavors out there!!! ?
Here’s another:
“What’s with all the boxes of licorice”?
#thingstheTSAsays #googlebound #googlelawnsculptures ?
It so happens also that Calabrese is headed to Google’s headquarters to give the existing sculptures a fresh coat of paint. Could an Android Licorice statue be close behind? Or is Calabrese just having a bit of fun at our expense?
