Many current Nexus device owners will not replace their devices for new ones (the Nexus 6 built by Motorola and the HTC-built Nexus 9). Instead, they are looking forward to upgrading their existing ones to the latest version of Android with an OTA update. The burning question on the lips of most of these is likely “When will this Android 5.0 Lollilop OTA update happen?” According to Android Police, we now have an answer but only for certain Nexus devices.
According to two separate sources, the Android 5.0 Lollipop OTA update will begin rolling out on November 3, the same day that the Google Nexus 9 is expected to go on sale. The first phase of the rollout will only hit Wi-Fi devices, namely the Nexus 7 (both 2012 and 2013 models) and the Nexus 10. Nexus devices with cellular connectivity , namely the Nexus 4, Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 (2013) with LTE will need to wait a bit longer. A rollout for these is expected to start “later that month.”
