Hot on the heels of Android 5.0.1 Lollipop, Google has released Android 5.0.2 to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP). Sporting build number LRX22G, it is so far only available for the Google Nexus 7 (2012).
No changelog is available and it’s unclear how Android 5.0.1 and Android 5.0.2 differ. Much as with the former, the latter is likely a maintenance release to address bugs that have come up since Android 5.0 Lollipop began to roll out to Nexus devices.
It certainly explains why so many Nexus 7 (2012) users were reporting that they had not received their Lollipop update. It now appears that Google found a bug that held up the deployment. With Android 5.0.2 Lollipop now in AOSP, we will likely see the OTA update start arriving in the coming days (although Christmas may delay things a bit).
We’ll keep an eye on AOSP to see if Android 5.0.2 makes its way to the other Nexus devices.
