Project Ara was always a very interesting project and the fact that the first devices could be out as early as the first quarter of 2015 has only made it even more so. If early 2015 seems too far away, there is a way that you could get your hands an early release version before that. Interested?
If your answer was a resounding ‘yes,’ than you need to become an Ara Scout. Over the next 6 to 12 months, you will help the ATAP team “shape the direction of Project Ara” by performing special missions. These will come in once a month and focus on a particular topic. For example, one could be on health and fitness. Your mission will be to provide feedback in the form of photos, ideas and commentary.
Reiterated yesterday over Twitter by Daniel Makoski, ATAP’s Chief Designer, is that the “most active Ara Scouts” will be rewarded with an early version of Project Ara before its launch.
@mswagle @ProjectAra Q1 2015, unless you're one if our most active Ara Scouts. they will get an early version.

The Ara Scouts signup page further states that “a hundred of the most active scouts will receive an early release version at no cost.”
