Rumours that Motorola was working on a phablet first surfaced last October. At the time, it was suggested that this Motorola Xplay would come with a 6.3-inch display. Now comes word that Motorola is still working on this device and is now planning to launch it in the Q3 2014 timeframe.
The same source that earlier this week revealed details about the upcoming Moto 360 smartwatch is behind this latest rumour. There is no mention of either the name Xplay or any specific details of the device. G for Games speculates that Motorola may have decided on a new name and could also have opted for a different size for the display.
The same report that first revealed the possible existence of the Motorola Xplay also suggested that another DROID device, the Motorola DROID Quantum, was also in the works.
With Lenovo reportedly planning to make few changes to the Motorola product roadmap that currently extends into 2015, it may well be that we will still see Motorola launch a phablet later this year. If so, we can expect more details to emerge both from this source and hopefully others to give us corroboration as to what Motorola is working on.
