Recent rumours have hinted that the next smartphone Motorola will release could be the Moto E, an ultra-thin and inexpensive smartphone in the same vein as the Moto G. Now a new Motorola device has popped up over at the GFXBench website and it may be an indication of what could come come after. The specifications revealed suggest a more powerful device.
Here is what we know courtesy of GFXBench:
- Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 800
- Operating system: Google Android 4.4.3
- Other connectivity: GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC
- Display: 5.2-inch Full HD (1080×1920)
- RAM: 2GB
- Internal storage: 32GB
- Rear-facing camera: 12MP AF with FHD video capture
- Front-facing camera: 2MP with FHD video capture
- Sensors: Accelerometer, gyroscope, light sensor, pedometer, proximity sensor
What is the Motorola XT912A? Two theories spring to mind. The first is that it is the Moto X+1, the successor to last year’s Moto X. Much like we saw with the Moto X, the specifications certainly suggest a high-end device but not one that will be among the very top flagship devices that should be available around the same time. Rather than distinguishing itself solely on hardware, Motorola could well again focus on features like Touchless Control, Active Display and whatever new ones they will have come up with in the year since the Moto X.
But anyone who remembers the original Motorola DROID RAZR offered by Verizon back in late 2011 may also remember that it carried the model number XT912. Could the XT912A be a successor to that device instead?
It could all be a practical joke as well so keep that pinch of salt handy.
