It appears that the Apple iPhone 6 has decided to pose for the cameras once more ahead of its expected September 9 announcement. A series of pictures have surfaced on China’s social media site Weibo. The images show it next to an iPhone 5S, giving us a nice comparison of the two devices. Of particular interest is that some of the pictures show it active and running and letting us see some of the expected changes.
While the veracity of the photos cannot be verified, they certainly appear to line up well with details from prior leaks. Aside from the larger size due to the 4.7-inch display, the pictures show that Apple has given the iPhone 6 more tapered edges and redesigned volume buttons. As for the device itself, it looks to be a model with 64GB of internal storage and running iOS 8.0 build 12A365.
It appears that the larger display will allow Apple to add a sixth row of icons on the home screen. It also appears that Passbook could be in for some changes. Its icon is sporting a newfourth stripe with what could be a credit card icon. This would certainly give credence to recent rumours that Apple will also announce a mobile payment system at the event.
With the iPhone 5S right next to it, we can also see that the app icons do not appear to have changed in size. That would mean that the iPhone 6’s display will sport a resolution of 1334 by 750 pixels.
Apple will host its next press event on Tuesday, September 9. It is widely expected to unveil not only the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 but a larger 5.5-inch model as well. It could also announce new wearables, likely the much anticipated iWatch.
