It appears that a physical keyboard revival is underway in the smartphone world. BlackBerry has its new BlackBerry Q10 and Q5 and LG just released the Enact keyboard slider for Verizon. Now rumours are pointing to Motorola readying a new keyboard slider as well. Images posted on the Weibo website reveal what is described as the DROID 5, a successor to last year’s DROID 4.
Only a few additional details about the DROID 5 are currently available. Aside from the 5-row landscape slide-out keyboard (very similar to the DROID 4’s), it is expected to come with a display in the 4.3 to 4.5-inch range, LTE connectivity and wireless charging. It should also be both dust and waterproof (IP57 certified?).
It remains to be seen when the DROID 5 will join its recently announced DROID Ultra, DROID Maxx and DROID mini at Verizon.
