It was only two weeks ago that Sony unveiled its Xperia Z Ultra with its massive 6.4-inch display but the company is already gearing up for its next event. It has sent out invitations for a press conference that will take place on the eve of IFA 2013. Scheduled for September 4th, there are no hints on the invitation as to what could be announced.
The expectation at this point is that Sony will use the event to unveil the Xperia i1 (codename Honami). If past rumours are remotely accurate, this will be an impressive flagship device:
- Processor: 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 with Adreno 330 GPU
- Operating system: Google Android 4.2.2 with new Xperia UI
- Cellular connectivity: LTE
- Other connectivity: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC
- Display: 5.0-inch Full HD (1080×1920) with Triluminos and X-Reality Engine technologies
- RAM: 2GB
- Storage: 32GB onboard and microSD cards
- Rear-facing camera: 20MP with 2/3-inch Exmor RS sensor, Xenon and dual-LED flash and interchangeable lenses
- Front-facing camera: 2.2 with Exmor R sensor
- Battery: 3,000mAh
- Other: Dual stereo speakers with S-Master MX mobile audio amplifier, IR remote, IP 55/58 dust and water resistance with no audio jack flap
Samsung is also expected to unveil its Galaxy Note III phablet at IFA 2013.
