Is it too early to think about International CES 2014? While the annual flood of CES rumours has yet to really start, preparation are already underway for one of the largest consumer electronics tradeshows of the year. Late last month, the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), organizers of the event, announced that President and CEO of Sony Corporation Kazuo Hirai will deliver the opening keynote address.
“Sony is a global brand synonymous with innovation and cutting-edge technology,” said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CEA. “There is no better way to kick off the world’s greatest innovation event than a keynote from one of the leading brands in the industry, bringing content and technology together to transform the way we live, work and play. We are thrilled to welcome Kaz Hirai to the 2014 CES keynote stage and are excited to hear his insight surrounding the next generation of consumer technology.”
While the U.S. may not currently be a priority for Sony Mobile, it remains one for Sony as a whole company. Its PlayStation 4 gaming console is set to debut later this month and Sony also has an important consumer electronics and entertainment presence in North America.
Sony unveiled the Xperia Z and Xperia ZL at last year’s CES, the first in the well-received Xperia Z family of devices. Could the rumoured Xperia Z2 be the latest addition to this family? We’ll know in, as of today, 64 days!
