While there have been some suggestions that Samsung is not pleased with the sales performance of its Galaxy S4 flagship smartphone, numbers have been hard to come by since we heard that Samsung had sold 20 million by early July. Coming up to being on the market about six months, JK Shin, CEO and President of IT & Mobile Division, Samsung Electronics told reporters in Korea this week that Samsung has now exceeded sales of 40 million units.
Maybe Samsung had higher expectations for the Galaxy S4 but one thing is clear: 40 million is an impressive sales tally and likely one that many of Samsung’s competitors would be more than happy to claim for themselves.
With the holiday season nearly upon us, Samsung could soon announce that sales have topped 50 million. Such a milestone may be a good lead-in to then introduce the Galaxy S5 which some rumours have suggested could come as early as January.
Shin also appears pleased with the sales performance of the Galaxy Note 3 phablet which was introduced back in early September.
