Samsung Galaxy Note 12.2 lands at Bluetooth SIG

Rumoured Samsung Galaxy Note 12.2

Rumours about a 12.2-inch Android tablet from Samsung led to the expectation that the South Korean manufacturer might unveil such a tablet at its Unpacked event earlier this month. While it did unveil a second-generation Galaxy Note 10.1, the Galaxy Note 12.2 did not materialize. It has now popped up on the Bluetooth SIG’s website as the SM-P901, one the model numbers associated with the tablet.

Filed earlier this week, the certification document reveals little but confirms that the Galaxy Note 12.2 will come with Bluetooth 4.0.

Past rumours have suggested that it will come with a Samsung Exynos 5 Octa processor, a 12.2-inch WQXGA (2560×1600) display, Google Android (4.2 Jelly Bean last we heard) and Samsung’s S-Pen technology. With a number of variants having come to light, we could see models with a different processor as well (perhaps a Snapdragon 800 with LTE connectivity?).

While an increasing number of people have been opting for smaller tablets, in the 7- to 8-inch range, Samsung may be hoping to find a market for larger tablets much as it did with large smartphones, starting with the original Galaxy Note.

More recent rumours have suggested that Samsung will launch the Galaxy Note 12.2 in October.
