The much anticipated Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch is expected to launch on October 4th. So far, only TELUS has committed to the date but it would be surprising that they would be the only ones. In the meantime, the Galaxy Gear can now be pre-ordered in Canada through either Best Buy or Future Shop.
Designed to harness the power of tonnes of cool apps, Galaxy Gear tracks your activity, snaps photos, and syncs with your devices using Bluetooth 4.0. Whether you use it as a souped up pedometer to get fit, a TV to stream content while you commute, or a compact GPS to find your way, Gear does an amazing array of stuff to boost productivity and enhance your day-to-day digital lifestyle.
The Samsung Galaxy Gear comes with a 1.63-inch (320×320) Super AMOLED display, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of online storage, a 1.9MP AF with BSI sensor camera and weighs 73.8 grams.
The Samsung Galaxy Gear is currently compatible only with the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014). The former is expected to launch on October 4th but there is no Canadian date yet for the latter.
Both retailers are offering the Galaxy Gear for CA$299 in a choice of black, orange and white. Both also list the release date estimated to be October 4th. Stock appears to be limited so don’t wait too long if you hope to get your hands on one. For example, as I write this, there are only 44 black Galaxy Gear smartwatches still available at Future Shop and36 at Best Buy.
