Rogers today announced a new program that will allow customers to trade in older smartphones and tablets for credit towards the purchase of a new device. With most people having at least one or two old devices collecting dust at home, it should be pretty easy to dig up an old device to save some money on a new one.
The Rogers Trade-Up program is pretty simple: Bring your old smartphone or tablet to a participating Rogers store or look up its credit value at www.rogers.com/tradeupquote. New Rogers customers will then be able to use this credit towards the purchase of a new device or accessories. Existing customers will receive the credit on their bill. Quotes are good for 30 days from the day that they are issued.
Rogers urges users to backup their data before bringing them in. Some stores can help with this so call ahead to see if they can assist you. Rogers also recommends that you perform a factory reset to erase all personal data. As a precaution, stores will also perform one in case you forget.
Rogers requires that the devices being traded in are able to power up and have a functional and undamaged touchscreen.
It’s good to see Rogers offer a program that a number of other Canadian carriers already offer…
