Rogers Communications today claimed another Canadian first. It informed us via email that it has begun to roll out carrier billing to the Google Play store.
A select amount of Rogers customers are now able to purchase apps and other items available through Google Play and have them charged to their Rogers account. The benefit to customers is that they don’t need to enter their credit card details any more.
Rogers expects to roll out this service to all of its customers “in the coming weeks.”
The screenshot below shows you how it will look:
Rogers already offers carrier billing with the BlackBerry App World and Microsoft’s Windows Phone Store.
Update: I added a screenshot of what Rogers carrier billing looks like on Google Play!
