Rogers reverses course and will offer BlackBerry Z30 after all

BlackBerry Z30

Rogers, one of BlackBerry’s strongest allies in Canada, caught many by surprise last week when it announced that it would not offer the recently announced BlackBerry Z30. The company explained that “We believe we can fulfill our customers’ demand for a BlackBerry device with our current lineup.” It failed to anticipate the vociferous reaction it got from its customers and today announced that it had decided to offer the BlackBerry Z30 after all.

In response to customers’ feedback and excitement about the device, Rogers looks forward to offering the new Z30 to its customers.

“We have a longstanding partnership with Blackberry and continue to be big supporters of the company and their products. Rogers will be making the device available online, through our national reservation system and directly to our business to business customers. We’re pleased to add the new Z30 to our roster of Blackberry smartphones, which includes the Z10, Q10 and Q5.”

With Bell and TELUS launching the BlackBerry Z30 on October 15, it is likely that Rogers will offer it on the same day or soon after. Note that it will not be available in retail stores but online and directly to business customers only.

Let’s hope that the customers that so vociferously asked Rogers to carry the Z30 turn out to buy it now that the carrier has acquiesced to their requests.
