Rogers yesterday announced that it has begun to roll out its new Rogers First Rewards loyalty program to customers in the Greater Toronto Area. First announced in early July, it was initially only available in Red Deer, Alberta, but began to roll out across Southwestern Ontario recently.
“Rogers First Rewards is a great opportunity to show customers that we appreciate and value their business,” said John Boynton, executive vice president and chief marketing officer, Rogers Communications. “The Ontario launch is a significant milestone for the program, and we look forward to continuing our roll out to more markets later this year.”
Like other reward programs (such as Roger’s own Vicinity program which we reviewed last month), customers earn points towards rewards. Rogers First Rewards is available to all Rogers customers. Once enrolled, they will assigned to a tier based on their average spend per month. For example, a Silver Tier customer will earn 1 point per dollar whereas a Platinum Tier one will earn 2 points per dollar. These points can be redeemed for a variety of rewards that include U.S. travel roaming talk and text packs; movie theme packages; upgraded internet packages; home phone long distance and more.
Since the program’s launch, Rogers has already issued 65 million points to eligible customers. With the program expanding quickly, that could jump to 1.2 billion points by the end of the year. Customers can check their current point balances and the reward catalogue online and with the Rogers My Account app for Android, Blackberry and Windows Phone.
Rogers will expand availability to a number of other cities in Ontario, including Ottawa, Kingston and Sudbury, in the coming weeks.
Rogers thanks customers across Ontario with largest market rollout of Rogers First Rewards
TORONTO, Nov. 12, 2013 /CNW/ – Rogers Communications announced today that Rogers First Rewards, a new loyalty program designed to thank customers for their business, has started to rollout across the Greater Toronto Area, and will launch over the coming weeks in Ottawa, Kingston, Sudbury and other cities throughout Ontario. As the program becomes available in the company’s largest consumer market, more customers will earn points for rewards and access the innovations and technology they want, just for being with Rogers.
“Rogers First Rewards is a great opportunity to show customers that we appreciate and value their business,” said John Boynton, executive vice president and chief marketing officer, Rogers Communications. “The Ontario launch is a significant milestone for the program, and we look forward to continuing our roll out to more markets later this year.” Since the program launched in Red Deer, Alberta this July and recently expanded across Southwestern Ontario, over 65 million points have been issued to eligible customers. With the extensive roll out across Ontario and coming soon to additional markets, it’s estimated that 80% of customers will have access to the program and over 1.2 billion points will be awarded by the end of the year. “We’ve seen great initial participation since launch. A number of customers are already repeat redeemers, especially for rewards like Video OnDemand,” added Boynton. “By offering additional access to high demand services like roaming packages and premium TV content, we’re giving customers more of the things they value.” Eligible customers enrolled in the Rogers First Rewards program earn points on their eligible Rogers purchases, which can be redeemed online at rogersfirstrewards.com. The catalogue includes a wide selection of rewards for cable, wireless and internet products and services, including U.S. travel roaming talk and text packs; movie theme packages; upgraded internet packages; home phone long distance and more. Enrolled customers can also check current point balances and browse the entire catalogue of rewards on the go, thanks to a recent update to the Rogers My Account app for Android, Blackberry and Windows Phone. With no blackout periods, hidden fees, or a membership card to carry, eligible Rogers customers may be automatically enrolled as the program becomes available in their region. Enrolled customers are given a Rogers First Rewards tier and point earn rate based on an average of total account holder’s spend per month: Silver Tier customers earn 1 point per dollar, Gold Tier customers earn 1.5 points per dollar, and Platinum Tier customers earn 2 points per dollar.
