Rogers today announced that it is bringing its LTE Max network to Manitoba thanks to a province-wide network sharing agreement with MTS Inc. The network will go live on June 17th bringing theoretical network speeds of up to 150Mbps to Winnipeg, Brandon, Victoria Beach and Grand Beach.
“Our customers in Manitoba are ready for an even faster wireless internet, and we’re thrilled to announce that the most advanced wireless technology in the world is coming on June 17th,” said Rob Bruce, President of Communications, Rogers. “This unique agreement with MTS is part of our strategic game plan to bring Rogers LTE’s incredibly fast wireless experience to even more customers across Canada.”
Rogers will further expand its Manitoba LTE network to additional markets, including Portage la Prairie, Selkirk, Steinbach and Ste. Anne, later this summer. It plans to offer LTE Max to more than 90 percent of Manitoba’s population within the next five years.
The agreement between MTS and Rogers will also see the two share the costs of deploying and operating LTE technology in Manitoba. It will also allow MTS customers to roam on the Rogers wireless network when travelling outside of Manitoba.
