Rogers Communications

Rogers Wireless (along with Fido, its flanker brand) experienced a widespread outage last night. It knocked out both voice and SMS services for several hours for all of the carrier’s customers. The issue was resolved late last night but the company has yet to provide an explanation for the outage.

While there is still no root cause, Rogers today apologized to its customers and said that Rogers and Fido will both proactively credit all of its postpaid wireless customers for one day of service.

Nadir Mohamed, President and CEO of Rogers Communications said; “I recognize this service interruption was unacceptable for our customers. We worked as quickly as possible to restore service and it was gradually restored over the course of the evening. I sincerely apologize to all of our customers for this significant inconvenience and appreciate their understanding and patience.”

Rogers indicates that full service was restored by 1145 EST last night. It also advises customers still having issues to turn their phone off and on again.
