Rogers Communications yesterday announced a new agreement with Switzerland’s Swisscom AG that will see both companies offer LTE roaming on each other’s networks to their customers. While travelling in Canada or Switzerland, subscribers with 2600MHz LTE devices will be able to experience “some of the world’s fastest available LTE wireless internet speeds.”
“We are proud to be the first Canadian carrier to bring another innovative LTE experience to our customers,” said Raj Doshi, senior vice president of products, Rogers Communications. “Our agreement with Swisscom means that Rogers customers travelling in Switzerland can stay connected through their device and enjoy the same wireless internet speeds that they would at home. This launch is part of an ongoing commitment to bring the LTE experience to all of our travelling customers, no matter where in the world they choose to go.”
Rogers already has similar 2600Mhz LTE roaming agreements with carriers in Hong Kong and South Korea. It also announced plans for similar agreements in additional countries later this year but did not provide any further details.
Among the 2600MHz LTE-enabled devices Rogers carries are the Samsung Galaxy S4, BlackBerry Q10, the LG Optimus G 2600 and the Rogers Rocket Stick.
