The OtterBox Defender Series line of cases, built with a built-in screen protector, polycarbonate shell and shock-absorbing slip cover, offers three layers of protection for tablets. Already available for a range of tablets and smartphones, OtterBox this week announced that it would soon also be available for the new Apple iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina Display.

The OtterBox Defender Series promises to protect your new iPad from scratches, drops, dust and the other vagaries of life. It also features a removable screen shield that will protect the Retina display when the device is not in use and double as a media viewing stand in landscape and portrait modes.
The OtterBox Defender Series case for iPad mini with Retina display is now available for pre-order for US$69.95. It will be offered in Black, White or Papaya. Shipments are expected to begin on October 31. The Defender Series iPad Air case will follow a bit later. You can sign up with OtterBox to get a notification when it becomes available.
