Following the launch of its Commuter Series Wallet earlier this month, OtterBox this week announced a new line of waterproof cases for the Apple iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c and Samsung GALAXY S4. The OtterBox Preserver case promises to allow technology users to embrace all the wet, messy, spontaneous fun life has to offer by offering a case that is waterproof (IP-X8) in up to to 6.6 feet of water for 30 minutes, drop proof from drops up to 6.6 ft. (MIL STD 810G-516.6) and dust proof (IP-6X).
“About 70 percent of the Earth’s surface is covered in water, and technology is almost as pervasive,” said OtterBox CEO Brian Thomas. “We take our smartphones with us everywhere, and OtterBox is dedicated to making these activities as worry-free as possible. The Preserver Series is dependable, seriously waterproof protection that you can trust.”
The OtterBox Preserver case consists of two pieces that snap together. It features a solid plastic frame lined with device-cradling foam and overmolded bumpers to absorb and deflect shock away from the device inside. All functions, including the touchscreen, remain accessible while the smartphone is in the case. It also includes an adjustable lanyard for convenient, confident carrying.
The OtterBox Preserver is currently available for the iPhone 5 for US$89.95. It will soon be available for both the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C as well as the Samsung Galaxy S4 (also for US$89.95).
