HTC was among the first to outline its Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade plans. A day after Google formally unveiled the latest version of its mobile operating system, HTC promised to have it on the unlocked and North American carrier variants of the HTC One within 90 days. Today, it provided a further update to precise the timeline.
HTC will deliver the update “by the end of January” and it will come with HTC Sense 5.5, an update to its interface overlay. Introduced along with the HTC One Max, this latest version brings a number of enhancements to Blinkfeed (including the ability to turn it off), new controls and content management and filtering and an updated photo gallery. New features include a ‘Read Later” option, support for RSS feeds, and Scribble, a note taking application.
@newmoney401 In North America, we plan to deliver Kit Kat (including Sense 5.5) to HTC One customers by the end of January.

The only other device to have a timeline estimate to go with it is the DROID DNA, making it only the second confirmed HTC smartphone to be in line for the update. According to HTC, that will happen by the end of Q1, “pending certification” from Verizon.
