An earlier report that a Nokia smartphone codenamed Batman would launch as the Lumia 1320 has been contradicted by The Verge. According to its own sources, both the Batman and the Lumia 1320 are real but are in fact different devices. The Batman would instead be a lower-end device that will sit just above the Lumia 625 in Nokia’s smartphone portfolio.
The Nokia Batman will, like the Lumia 625, come with a large display (perhaps a 4.7-inch one again but this is not specified in the report) and come with both a 5MP rear camera and a VGA front camera. It will also come with Nokia’s new camera app that combines a number of Pro and Smart Cam features into a single app.
The report adds that the high end side of Nokia’s lineup will consist of the Nokia Lumia 1020 as well as the still-to-be-announced 6-inch Nokia Lumia 1520 and 5-inch Lumia 929.
The Nokia Batman could launch alongside the Lumia 1520 and Lumia 929 as a new Lumia 600 series device at Nokia World 2013 on October 22.
The Verge is not quite as clear about the Lumia 1320. A leaked image obtained by @Ctechcn bears a strong resemblance to another device. Could it be that the Lumia 1320 is simply a rebranded 909 or even 1520?
The image suggests it will be headed to Verizon with a Full HD (1080×1920) display and Windows Phone 8 GDR3. Interestingly, the clock on the device reads 15:20 (a hint?).
Confused yet?
