Rumours of a Mini version of the Sony Xperia Z1 gained credibility with newly leaked images and specifications of the Sony Xperia Z1 f, better known as the Sony Xperia Z1 Mini. While other manufacturers have already jumped on the mini bandwagon, Sony looks set to do do with one major difference: The Xperia Z1 Mini appears to be as powerful as its larger sibling.
Specifications appear much as they did in earlier rumours. The Xperia Z1 Mini or Xperia Z1 f (model number SO-02F for NTT DoCoMo) will come with the same 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, 2GB of RAM and rear-facing 20.7MP camera with 1/2.3-inch sensor, f/2.0 aperture and Sony G lens as the Xperia Z1.
Unlike its larger sibling, it will come with a smaller 4.3-inch HD (720×1280) display and a 2,300mAh battery. There will also be only be 16GB of online storage, half that of the Xperia Z1. It will measure 127 by 64.9 by 9.4 millimeters.
All in all, Sony appears to have succeeded in keeping the impressive specifications of the Xperia Z1 and squeezed them into a smaller package. Now we just have to see whether these are indeed the final specifications of the Xperia Z1 Mini.
