A rumour earlier this week gave us a hint that BlackBerry was teaming up with Porsche Design again for a new smartphone. New pictures and information have now essentially confirmed that the two companies will announce the BlackBerry P’9982, based on the BlackBerry Z10 (much as the P’9981 was based on the Bold 9900) sometime next year.
Along with the pictures provided again by Vietnamese website Tinhte.vn show a fully assembled prototype with the Porsche Design branding. The design is reminiscent of the P’9981 with a leather-wrapped carbon fiber or aluminium frame. Dimensions should be very similar to those of the Z10.
N4BB adds that the P’9982 will come with a customized BlackBerry 10 user interface. Like the P’9981 before it, it should include Porsche Design touches like custom icons, the Porsche font and premium BBM PINs to help identify other P’998x users.
Current expectations is that the Porsche Design P’9982 will be out in mid-2014 with a price tag likely to fall in the US$2,000 range.
