Verizon and Sprint customers have already received a software update to improve the camera features (along with a few other updates) of their Moto X smartphone . It is now available to AT&T customers as well.
AnandTech describes the update as “nothing short of the biggest I’ve ever seen come across in an OTA update.” Benefits include improved exposure in outdoor and backlit scenes, white balance and colour accuracy and less noise in low light pictures.
It also includes improvements to Touchless Control, an easier set up for the “Ok Google Now” trigger and more. Here is a full changelog:
  • Camera enhancements:
    • Enhanced camera auto-white balance performance and color accuracy.
    • Improved exposure when taking photos outside or backlit, and improved clarity in low light.
    • Faster touch-to-focus time and reduced unnecessary refocusing in low light or scenes with continuous motion.
  • Faster response and improved accuracy when using Touchless Control and easier set up and training of the “Ok Google Now” trigger.
  • Enhanced transfer of content from old phone to new phone using Motorola Migrate.
  • Fine-tuned feature that allows you to find phone when it is lost that sometimes prevented a lost phone from reporting its location.

AT&T Moto X owners should be receiving  a notification that the update is now available. If not, a manual check can be triggered via Settings -> About phone -> System Updates -> Check now.

There is no word on when the update will hit Verizon or Rogers Wireless in Canada.
