Motorola today announced that its Moto Maker customization tool for the Moto X smartphone is now available to all four major U.S. carriers. The news will be welcome by those who enviously looked at AT&T customers who could customize their Moto X with a variety of backplates, front plates, button colours and accessories since August. Joining AT&T today are Sprint, T-Mobile USA and Verizon Wireless.
Motorola also announced that engraving is finally available as well. Moto Maker launched without this option in August due to quality control issues but Motorola has now solved those.
Just in time for the holidays, you can now choose to add a custom phrase to the back of your Moto X. With fiber laser technology, you can sign your design like never before. Show your team spirit, sport your nickname or give a gift with the ultimate personal touch by adding this free feature when you customize your Moto X on Moto Maker.
There is no sign of the wooden backplates though. Rumoured since the summer, they had been expected to perhaps launch today as part of Moto Maker’s wider availability. As unlikely as it appears, perhaps they will be announced as part of Motorola’s Moto G announcement on Wednesday.
There is no word yet on whether Motorola will extend Moto Maker availability to Canada where Rogers and Fido both offer the Moto X.
