We’ve already seen the new Verizon DROID smartphones built by Motorola in a number of leaked images. Details about specifications are still slim but it now appears that we have an announcement date. According to the usually reliable @evleaks, the two companies will unveil the new DROID lineup on August 8th.
8/8 does indeed look like DROID day.

Verizon and Motorola are expected to unveil three new DROIDs: The DROID Mini, DROID ULTRA and DROID MAXX. The latter two are expected to sport 5-inch displays and 10MP cameras. The DROID MAXX will also come with a larger battery expected to provide as much as two days of battery life. As the name implies, the DROID mini will be a smaller model although pictures suggest it will not be much smaller.
It is likely that Motorola will use a separate event to announce its much anticipated Moto X which is expected to be carried by all major U.S. carriers.
