LG is the latest manufacturer to start outlining plans to update its devices to Android 4.4 KitKat. LG Canada has told MobileSyrup that it is plans to release the Android 4.4 update for its LG G2 flagship smartphone by the end of the first quarter of 2014. There is one small caveat though: This is the plan for Canada and may not be indicative of the company’s plans in other countries.
LG spokesperson Court Elliott added that the update will be provided to all carriers offering the LG G2 at the same time. Carriers will then likely need to certify the new software before releasing it to their customers, potentially pushing the release window out further.
With the LG G2 currently running Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, the announcement suggests that LG has decided to jump over Android 4.3 in favour of going directly to the latest version of Android.
The report adds that LG would not comment on any upgrade plans for the LG Optimus G.
