LG’s plans to upgrade its LG G2 flagship smartphone to Android 4.4 KitKat continue to take shape. Following LG Canada’s announcement that it was aiming to have devices upgraded by the end of Q1 2014, French carrier SFR announced that it would roll out the update to its customers by the end of January. LG Korea today announced that it will begin rolling out the update to the LG G2 in South Korea by the end of the month. In fact, it appears that the rollout is already underway as reports are trickling in that users have already received it.
In the post announcing the news, LG did not outline its LG G2 Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade plans outside of South Korea, saying only that it will announce those plans at an unspecified later date.
The move comes even as LG’s new LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play edition started to receive its Android 4.4 KitKat update this week.
