When Jean-Baptiste Quéru left the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) program, many wondered where he would go next. That question was answered yesterday when Quéru announced via Twitter that he had joined Yahoo!
Just started a new job at @Yahoo. Great company, great people, great vision, I'm very excited.

Quéru left Android over his dissatisfaction about working with hardware partners that make it difficult to release factory images or driver binaries. At one point this summer, it appeared that these files for the Google Nexus 7 (2013) would never be posted to the Google Developers website due to legal concerns from one of the hardware partners. Ironically, the files were posted shortly after Quéru’s departure.
Further tweets from Quéru added that he will be working “in engineering on the suite of Yahoo! mobile apps.”
Quéru is the latest high profile departure from Google’s Android team in recent months. He follows Andy Rubin who stepped down as Senior Vice President, Mobile and Digital Content, in March but remains at Google and Hugo Barra who left in August for Xiaomi, a rising Chinese mobile hardware company.
Best of luck to JQB in his new role!
