Linksys Smart Wi-Fi AC1900Linksys yesterday unveiled its new flagship Wi-Fi router, the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi AC1900 Router (EA6900). With support for the new 802.11 ac standard, it promises speeds of up to 1300Mbps as well as speeds up to 600Mpbs on the older Wireless-N standard.

“Trends like the increase in connected devices in the home and the rise of on-demand video services, enabling consumers to consume video on virtually any screen, puts a more critical demand on the home network,” said Mike Chen, Senior Director Home Networking at Belkin. “Our products are not only extremely fast, they are also easy to install and control through the innovative Linksys Smart Wi-Fi platform. With your Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Account and App you can get access anywhere and anytime to media stored on a connected USB storage device or change settings of the router – all from the palm of your hand.”

The Linksys Smart Wi-Fi AC1900 comes with a dual-core 800MHz processor, internal and removable external dipole antennae, 4 Gigabit LAN ports, 1 Gigabit WAN port, one USB 2.0 port and one USB 2.0 port. It also sports beamforming technology that adjusts, steers and monitors the direction of the Wi-Fi signals for better performance.

Like other Linksys routers, it also comes with a free Linksys Smart Wi-Fi app (Android and iOS) that lets users manage their network with their smartphone or tablet.

The Linksys Smart Wi-Fi AC1900 will be available both in Canada and the U.S. in October for $249.
