The oft-rumoured HTC One mini, better known as the HTC M4, is in the news again. Digitimes now expects the smaller version of the HTC One flagship to launch sometime in Q3 2013. Much as other manufacturers are doing, the HTC One mini will sport a similar look (down to the metal-alloy unibody chassis) but will come with lower specifications than its larger sibling, allowing HTC to market it as a mid-range smartphone or perhaps even as a high-end one.
Based on older rumours, the HTC One mini will sport the following specifications:
- Processor: Dual-core (possibly a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400)
- Operating system: Google Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with HTC Sense
- Cellular connectivity: LTE
- Display: 4.3-inch HD (720×1280)
- RAM: 2GB
- Internal storage: 16GB
- Rear-facing camera: UltraPixel
- Front-facing camera: Yes (1.6MP?)
- Battery: Non-removable 1,700mAh
The third quarter could be a busy one for mini versions of existing smartphones. Along with the HTC One mini, we can also expect to see the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini as well as entries from both Huawei and Lenovo. And let’s not forget that Apple is also working on a cheaper iPhone model.
