New images of the upcoming HTC One max phablet identifying it as the the HTC 8088 have surfaced today along with updated specification details. The images are quite clear; the front ones give us a good look at the user interface while the back ones again suggest a fingerprint reader. The latter also give us a clear look at what appear to be pogo pins for use with some kind of docking/charging accessory.
New details about the specifications suggest that we may not see a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 on the HTC One max. Instead, we may see a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro or Snapdragon 600. It’s not clear whether HTC had a change of mind (perhaps to drive down the cost) or if earlier rumours were simply wrong or even if several variants are planned for different markets.
Rumoured HTC One max specifications:
- Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro or Snapdragon 600
- Operating system: Google Android 4.3 Jelly Bean
- Other connectivity: GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC
- Display: 5.9-inch Full HD (1080×1920)
- RAM: 2GB
- Internal storage: 16GB
- Rear-facing camera: 5MP UltraPixel
- Battery: 3,300mAh
With only 16GB of internal storage, let’s hope that HTC adds support for microSD cards. It’s also possible that variants will offer additional onboard storage (likely 32GB and perhaps even a 64GB option).
There is still no clear indication of when HTC could launch the HTC One max but it is widely expected to arrive in time for the holiday season.
