Reports have begun to trickle in that Google has begun the rollout of the Android 4.4.2 update for the HTC One Google Play edition smartphone. It should come as no surprise that the build number, KOT49H, is the same as we saw arrive earlier on the Nexus smartphones and tablets.
Google released Android 4.4.2 on the heels of 4.4.1. As the point upgrade suggests, it is not a huge update but it does include a number of new bug fixes including one for a class 0 SMS vulnerability that affects only Nexus devices.
For those who cannot wait for the OTA update or simply want to tinker away, the HTC One Google Play edition Android 4.4.2 zip file (998.MB) framework support files (468.4MB) are now available on HTCDev as well.
We can expect to see similar roll outs begin shortly for other Google Play edition devices, the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the just launched LG G Pad 8.3 and Sony Z Ultra.
Unlike the standard models offered by HTC (and other manufacturers participating in the program), the HTC One Google Play edition comes with a stock version of Android without any HTC customization and added apps.
Update (12/14/2013): The Android 4.4.2 Android for LG G Pad 8.3 is now also rolling out.
