The HTC One family is now complete. After weeks of rumours and leaks, HTC today unveiled the HTC One max, its 5.9-inch phablet with a fingerprint scanner. HTC describes it as “a super-sized smartphone that brings the award-winning design, functionality and performance of the HTC One to fans of larger handsets.”

HTC’s fingerprint scanner works a bit differently than the one implemented by Apple on the iPhone 5S. Located on the back of the device, it not only allows users to lock or unlock the screen but it can launch up to three different applications, each based on an individual finger.
An optional HTC Power Flip Case will add an additional 1150mAh of battery life as well.
The HTC One max will be available globally starting later this month. In the U.S., it will be offered by both Sprint and Verizon. There are no Canadian availability details yet.
