Google yesterday announced that it will give Glass Explorers a one time upgrade to an updated version of Google Glass. This updated version features support for future lines of shades and prescription frames and will also include a mono earbud.
Today, it gave everyone a look at the new Google Glass. It looks remarkably like the current Explorer edition though. The images show that the earbud will connect into the existing micro-USB port rather than an audio jack. This makes it optional but also means that you cannot have it plugged in when it comes time to charge Google Glass. For those who prefer, bone conduction is still available.
Google also announced that it is giving Explorers the opportunity to invite three friends to join the program. These new Explorers will be able to buy Glass online have it shipped to them.
With Google set to offer Google Glass more widely in 2014, it remains to be seen if this will be the version it will offer or if more changes are in the works before then.
