Google yesterday dropped the price of the Nexus 4 smartphone by 25% to $199 for the 8GB model and $249 for the 16GB model. If you bought yours before the price drop but after August 12th, Google today confirmed that it will offer you a price protection refund. The offer is only valid for the next 15 days so don’t put doing this for too long.
The refund request process is simple. Google has provided a web form and needs your order number as well the asset number of the Nexus 4 in question. If you bought more than one, you’ll need to fill in a form for each. Make sure you enter everything correctly as it warns that “typos and incorrect asset numbers may cause your request to be denied.”
Google promises to issue refunds “within a reasonable time” but it’s not exactly clear how long the process will in fact take.
