It would appear that we have a launch date for the Google Nexus 5. The usually reliable Mobile Syrup reports that the Google Nexus 5 will go on sale on the Google Play site on October 31. Canadian carriers will begin to offer it about a week later with a launch date set for November 7 or 8. The launch will presumably follow similar dates in the U.S.
If accurate, we can still expect some kind of announcement between now and then. Or will Google simply announce it on October 31 and launch it the same day? An earlier rumour did suggest that the announcement and shipments would both take place in the last week of October.
It is expected to come with a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, a 4.95-inch or 5-inch Full HD (1080×1920) IPS LCD, 2GB of RAM, a 8MP OIS rear camera, a 1.3MP front camera and a 2,300mAh battery.
The Google Nexus 5 is expected to come in both 16GB and 32GB variants. Based on a brief appearance on Google Play about a week ago, we expect pricing to start at US$349 (perhaps a bit higher in Canada). It could launch in both black and white (with a black front plate though).
