Google today unveiled the new Google Nexus 7 tablet. It is a slimmer (by about 2 millimeters) and lighter (by about 50 grams) version with a number of enhancements over its predecessor. Once again, Google has partnered with ASUS for its 7-inch Nexus tablet.
Before the new tablet was unveiled, Sundar Pinchai revealed that 70 million Android tablet activations have now been recorded. The Google Nexus 7 accounted for about 10 percent of those.

The Google Nexus 7 will sell for US$229 in its 16GB configuration and US$269 in the 32GB one. The LTE model will come with 32GB onboard and will sell for US$349. They will go on sale in the U.S. starting on July 30th. It will also launch in Canada and other markets in the “coming weeks.”
