As with any major update, Android 4.4 KitKat is not without its share of bugs. With Google now having rolled out the latest version to its Nexus devices, it should come as no surprise that its attention is now turning to addressing those bugs. We got our first hint of this update today. While he has been relatively quiet of late, @LlabTooFer today tweeted that the update would be on its way to the HTC One Google Play Edition in the “near future.”
HTC One GE will get 4.4.1 (KOT49E) in near future…

It is also likely that the Android 4.4.1 update will hit the latest Google Nexus devices, including the Nexus 5, Nexus 4, both Nexus 7 and Nexus 10, either slightly earlier or about the same time. We can also expect it on the Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition in the same time frame. Based on how quickly Motorola rolled out KitKat to the Moto X, it could also follow at about the same time.
The build number will jump from the current KRT16S to KOT49E. As to what it may include, there is no word on that yet. Could we see the Android camera improvements, including Burst mode, in this build? It may be a bit much to expect from a small point release but we can keep our fingers crossed nonetheless.
As for a timeline, there isn’t one right now better than the “near future.” Let’s hope that it means before Christmas!
