There’s some good news today for Canadian owners of the Lumia 920. The Windows Phone 8 GDR2 update, also known as the Amber update, is now rolling out for the Rogers Nokia Lumia 920.
What does GDR2 include, you ask? While not a major update, it does include some welcomed updates and new features including the return of FM radio support, a new Data Sense app to monitor data usage, the ability to set your favourite Lens as the default when you press the camera button as well as other camera improvements, an improved version of Internet Explorer and more.
It may take a day or two for the update to hit your Nokia 920. As Nokia explains,
Your phone notifies you once an update is available. We ask you to be patient, as updates for Nokia Lumia range are always released gradually. To make sure you don’t miss out on the notification, check on your phone that under Settings > Phone Update > “Tell me when updates are available for my phone” is enabled.
The GDR2 update for the Canadian versions of the Nokia Lumia 520 and Lumia 620 are still listed as “Waiting for approval,” which stands for “undergoing final testing with country or operator to achieve approval.” They will hopefully follow shortly.
