Alongside the Android-powered Ascend D2 and Ascend Mate, Huawei today launched its first Windows Phone 8 smartphone, the Huawei Ascend W1. As expected, it is an entry-level device designed to be easy on the pocketbook.

The Huawei Ascend W1 will first launch in China and Russia starting in January 2013. Other markets including the U.S. (and Canada?) will follow later. Pricing information was not announced.
