BlackBerry loses two more executives

BlackBerry has been losing executives and employees for some time now. 2013 was particularly difficult as BlackBerry 10 on which the company bet its revival failed to meet both company and customer expectations. BlackBerry recently saw the departure of former CEO Thorten Heins when Fairfax brought in John S. Chen as Executive Chair of BlackBerry’s Board of Directors and and interim CEO. Chen was quick to promise that he would be streamlining the company’s management team as it shifted focus back towards enterprise customers.

Heins was quickly followed out by Chief Operating Officer, Kristian Tear, and its Chief Marketing Officer, Frank Boulben. The company today announced that two more executive will be leaving. In a story first reported by The Wall Street Journal and confirmed to The Financial Post by the company itself, the two were identified as Chris Wormald, Vice President, Strategic Alliances, and Rick Costanzo, Executive Vice President of Global Sales. Wormald will leave by the end of the month with Costanzo to follow in early 2014.

BlackBerry will report its third-quarter financial results on Friday. While it may have some good news on the BBM front with the launch of Android and iOS versions in October, these are likely to be overshadowed by news of ongoing poor sales of BlackBerry 10 devices.
