BlackBerry Kopi to be next entry-level QWERTY model

Rumoured BlackBerry KopiWhile BlackBerry has announced plans to offer only four devices going forward, two high-end models and two entry-level ones, rumours continue to reveal an increasing number of BlackBerry devices. We first heard about the Cafe/Cappuccino, Windermere, Tigris and Ontario. Then came pictures of the Americano. The latest is the BlackBerry Kopi, a QWERTY model that is expected to sell for less than the current BlackBerry Q5.

According to BGR‘s source, the BlackBerry Kopi will come with a faster processor than the Q5, BlackBerry 10.2 and a removeable battery but it will lack support for LTE connectivity. Without LTE, it is likely intended for emerging markets and may never be seen in North America although an LTE-enabled variant could be in the works as well.

If the Americano is indeed part of the entry-level C-Series currently known as the Cafe devices, the Kopi will likely fall into that series as well. Aside from being identified as an entry-level device, the name itself means coffee in Malay.

There is little additional information to go with the pictures. A launch is unlikely to come before 2014 though.
