Another rumour points to Motorola-made Google Nexus 5

Google Nexus

This is now getting interesting. A rumour last week that Motorola would be behind the Google Nexus 5 contradicted everything we’d heard to date. The claim came from the reputable Taylor Wimberly and could not simply be dismissed. But little has since surfaced and additional reports, including one from the usually reliable Vietnamese website Tinhte.vn, sent the ball back into LG’s court. It’s now @evleaks‘ turn to weigh in and suggest that the Nexus 5 or the “Nexus 4 v2” as he refers to it will come from Motorola.

The suggestion that the next Nexus smartphone could once again be called the Nexus 4 is not without precedent. Google just did the same with its second generation 7-inch tablet also known as the Nexus 7. It would also imply a smaller device than one sporting a 5.2-inch display as the LG rumours have suggested.

@evleaks goes on to suggest that recent pictures of the alleged LG Nexus 5, including the one below obtained by Dutch website TechTastic, could in fact be of the Optimus L9 II.

Rumoured Google Nexus 5

It seems that those rumours of Motorola working on a cheap smartphone (about CA$340) packing a quad-core processor, a display measuring at least 4.5-inch, 2GB of RAM and an 8MP camera capable of 1080p video may not have been off the mark after all.
