When Google unveiled first the Google Play Edition Samsung Galaxy S4 and later the HTC One, it promised that both would receive quick updates to the latest versions of Android. It has now made good on its promise and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean MR2 updates are now rolling out to both devices.
The update weighs in at about 150MB for the Galaxy S4 and 180MB for the HTC One. Both builds are identified as JWR66V, the same as that for the Google Nexus 4.
Among the changes the updates bring are larger icons on the widget panels (as can be seen below), an IR blaster on the HTC One, and Bluetooth tethering on the Galaxy S4. Other features included in Android 4.3 are restricted user profiles, Bluetooth Low Energy support and support for OpenGL ES 3.0.
Google unveiled Android 4.3 on July 24th. Updates for its Nexus devices, including the Google Nexus 4 and original Google Nexus 7, followed shortly after.
Neither HTC or Samsung have yet to provide timelines as to when they will release the Android 4.3 update for their respective devices.
