The 4.3 version of Jelly Bean has made “appearances” everywhere over recent weeks. Leaks have appeared for the Galaxy S4, HTC One, and some developers even acknowledged its existence. We have heard it all, except from the one that matters the most, Google.
Thanks to a Google+ user, Jeff, who recently purchased a Nexus 4 running Android 4.3 and XDADevelopers, a working backup has just been produced. A system dump from Jeff’s Nexus 4 confirms that build (JWR66N) is legitimate. Most interesting is that Jeff apparently bought his Nexus 4 online from a Googler. He was surprised to find that it came with Android 4.3 rather than 4.2 and took to Google+ to ask when the new version had been released. The rest is history.
Digging further into the new Android release, AndroidPolice has already identified a number of changes and new features. Among them are:
- A fix for the Blue Security Android vulnerability
- Bluetooth Smart (BT 4.0 LE)
- T9 dialing (needs to be enabled in the dialer settings)
- New 4.2.3 version of Google Play
- Google Keep included as a system app
- OpenGL 3.0 ES support
- Updated camera interface
With the scheduled July 24 Google event we wrote about a yesterday, we can be fairly certain that Jelly Bean 4.3 will finally be out of the bag!
Let us know in the comments if you are excited about version 4.3 or if are you waiting for Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie.
